Leave head banging to the bighorn sheep

Don’t Butt Heads Over What to Do – You Can Do It All!

It’s easy to get frustrated when things don’t go as planned but in the Columbia Valley we leave headbanging to bighorn sheep.

Radium’s Headbanger Festival runs November 2 to 4 with talks about bighorn sheep, an appearance by a mystery writer, and a smartphone photography workshop. Scheduled to coincide with the best time to see bighorn rams smashing heads, bring your camera to capture the big guys sparring for ewes.

The same weekend also offers food paired with British Columbia wines at the 17th Annual East Kootenay Wine Festival at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort November 2-3. With a Great Gatsby theme shelve your worries and dress in your finest Prohibition-era garb.

With Christmas approaching stop at the Handmade Market November 10 or Winter Wonderland Market November 18-19 to pick up locally hand-crafted gifts and avoid mall crowds that leave you more frazzled than a bus driver on the first day of school. November 17th, Invermere lights up with brightly coloured bulbs and Santa Claus rolls through town in the Santa Claus Parade.

There are fewer people in the valley now; a perfect time to slip away to one of the valley’s hot springs and restore your spirit before jumping into holiday busyness. Fairmont Hot Springs pool offers one of Canada’s best outdoor lap swims plus a warmer soaking pool. Radium Hot Springs pool is one of Canada’s largest hot springs nestled next to Sinclair Canyon’s rocky cliffs. You can slide into mineral rich waters and search for bighorn sheep on the rocks. They can bang heads while you get your valley vibe back.
