Holiday Hustle and Bustle Getting You Wound Up? Not in the Columbia Valley!

The holiday season is upon us for better or worse. With parties, shopping for gifts, and pleas to cook your special dish, it’s easy to slip into Christmas craziness. But time in the valley can restore your ho-ho-ho letting you savor the warmth, love and light of this special season.

Invermere on the Lake - Winter

Wander the streets of Invermere and admire the lights, sip a latte, and slip into locally owned stores to top up your shopping list knowing you’ve found something unique. The parking is (gasp) free and the line-ups short.

Cooking at this time of year is optional. If you would rather sample chocolate than beat the lumps out of gravy, chefs at Copper Point Resort, Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and Panorama Mountain Resort are happy to serve up Christmas dinner for your family and take care of the housekeeping too!

Fairmont Hot Springs Resort offers craft making, cookie decorating, and evening bonfires during December to rev your festive spirit at their Holiday Lights and Winter Nights festival. Over 50,000 lights twinkle in their winter wonderland.

Nipika Mountain Resort, Radium Hot Springs BC

If the sight of snowflakes has you itching to hit the slopes Panorama ski hill opens in early December, Fairmont’s ski hill a couple of weeks later. Once snow arrives in Kootenay National Park the trails at Nipika Mountain Resort are a favorite with Nordic skiers.

And if Santa is listening, Lake Windermere in Invermere freezes in time to polish the almost 30-km skiing and skating path winding around the lake. Get your bragging rights by gliding across the lake that offers so much summer pleasure. The laughter of children, the slice of your blades across the ice, and a whiff of wood smoke will have you rejoicing at your choice to celebrate in the valley.
