Shake Off That Snow and Enjoy What Makes Winter Awesome in the Columbia Valley
Mother Nature’s repeated dumps of snow this year may have you convinced winter in motion was your repeated attempts to shovel the white stuff away but the Columbia Valley’s Winter in Motion festival will have you looking at winter in a new way.
At Panorama Mountain Resort the ski hill is in full motion! Bluebird days are more plentiful in March, so be sure to keep an eye on the hill for one of those “*cough*… I don’t think I can make it in to work on Monday” kind of long-weekends.
If this seems like too much motion head to the Invermere Coffee Fest celebration of coffee and tea culture. In its fifth year the weekend event runs March 2 to 4 with workshops geared to curious travelers. Roast coffee beans over an open fire at Kinsmen Beach while Calgary Heritage Roasting Company explains how their wildland firefighting background led to a coffee company or hang out with Columbia Valley Bee Master Kim Weaver.
If you miss watching the Olympic coverage of high-performance athletes, you can see the next generation perfecting their skills at the Linda Putnam Invitational GS race March 9 to 10 or the Kootenay Freestyle Classic competition March 16 to 18.
Or if the idea of winter moving on is music to your ears drop into the High Notes Music Festival March 23 to 25 for three days of toe-tapping, family-friendly performances. You can also take in the Columbia Valley Arts Council Alfie Zappacosta concert March 15. Before you know it, winter will have moved on.
At the end of the day, warm up with a soak in one of our hot springs, enjoy a great meal and don’t forget to tag us when sharing your images on your social media channels.
