Fall is here, and it is time to enjoy the harvests of local farmers in the Columbia Valley!

We are lucky to be surrounded with delicious local food including nutritious vegetables like tomatoes and corn, sweet apples, organic beef, and much more. Here are the best ways to enjoy the bounty of the Valley this fall!

Want fresh vegetables for dinner? Stop at a local farm stand! Farm stands are small selections of fruit and veggies located at the farm, typically operating on the honour system. Stopping at a place like this is a great way to stock up on locally-grown, seasonal food. Stop in at Old Blue Truck Farm (Windermere), Weaver’s Bee Co (Windermere), and Homestead Harvest (Invermere).

Sophies Original Choice

Plenty of local food is served up in local grocery stores. Find treats local treats such as Smokehouse 93 spices and Sophie’s Original Choice pickles at Sobeys & AG Valley Foods. Hopkin’s Harvest, located in Windermere, is a farm-to-table market specializing in fresh produce and ready-to-eat goodies.

Time in the Columbia Valley isn’t complete without a taste of local distilleries and breweries. Make a tour of it and head to Taynton Bay Spirts nestled beside Kinsmen Beach for a free tasting and a few tea-infused cocktails. Next up is Arrowhead Brewing, pouring six permanent beers and seasonal favourites with fun names like ‘Berries of the Night’. Finally, visit the new Radium Brewing on the Village’s Main Street to enjoy a pint or flight of brews.
