Fall Into Fun
Summer may be over but there are plenty of warm days remaining in the Columbia Valley and activities to ramp up the fun factor.
For the 29th year classic and antique cars cruise into the valley for the Columbia Valley Classics Show and Shine. The party starts Friday evening, September 14 in the Village of Radium Hot Springs with Music on Main Street. Saturday kicks off with a pancake breakfast before approximately 1,000 cars are displayed at The Springs Course driving range. Stroll among the polished chrome and metal as you gaze at the cars of your youth (or your parents). Finish off the day by dancing to Rewind at the Invermere Curling Rink.
For a fresh way to see fall colours try one of Panorama’s Summit Ridge hikes. For two September weekends (September 15 – 16 and 22 – 23) the chairlifts whisk leaf peepers to the summit for guided hikes among the glorious yellow larches of Mt. Goldie. Tickets include a gourmet packed lunch and an après hike drink to celebrate your autumn achievement. Preregistration is required for this popular event.
If you’re wanting more sun and smiles make time for Invermere Oktoberfest block party September 29. The valley’s laid-back atmosphere shines though as locals and visitors mingle among bratwurst and beer and celebrate the valley’s European heritage (Famed Austrian guide Conrad Kain settled in Wilmer during the years Swiss guides were opening up Rocky Mountain climbing routes). Add a polka to your activities and watch your smile bloom as bright as the fall colours.
Wherever you find merriment in the valley you’ll find a new lightness of spirit falling upon you.
